‎The ceremony, held on October 2, marked an important milestone in the academic and professional journey of the student nurses.

‎

‎The Proprietor and Bishop on the Niger, His Lordship, the Rt. Rev. Owen Chiedozie Nwokolo, was represented at the event by Ven. Frank Obi. The occasion attracted dignitaries, government representatives, captains of industry, parents and other guests who gathered to celebrate the achievement of the student nurses.

‎

‎Speaking on behalf of the Bishop, Ven. Frank Obi thanked God for the successful ceremony and congratulated the matriculating and capped students on their achievement. He urged the students to remain determined, persistent and diligent in their studies, noting that with trust in God, their hands and minds would become instruments of healing, care and comfort to humanity.

‎

‎In her welcome address, the Acting Provost of the College, Mrs. Nwogo Ekwugha, welcomed the guests, parents and student nurses to the ceremony.

‎Addressing the students, Mrs. Ekwugha said the capping ceremony formally inducted them into the nursing profession.

‎

‎She charged them to wear their uniforms with pride, uphold the ethics and standards of nursing practice, and make compassion, competence and character their guiding principles. She further reminded them that the ceremony marked the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and evidence-based practice, stressing that nursing is a dynamic profession that requires continuous learning and professional development.

‎

‎Delivering the keynote address, Dr. John Anieche urged the matriculants to understand the responsibility that comes with becoming healthcare professionals.

‎

‎ He reminded them that they were no longer merely students but caregivers entrusted with the lives and well-being of others, and encouraged them to serve as health educators, patient advocates and defenders of patients' interests while upholding dignity, integrity and confidentiality in the profession.

‎

‎The ceremony ended with congratulations to the 183 student nurses as they commenced another significant phase of their professional journey in nursing.
