 Nigerian man takes up the challenge to be bur!ed alive for 24hours A Nigerian man who identifies as Young C has embarked on a challenge to be buried alive in a coffin for 24 hours.  He made this known in a series of posts on his Instagram page on Wednesday,  stating that the stunt was genuine and not a hoax.  He announced his intention to broadcast live footage from the coffin at night. Sharing a video on his Instagram account on Wednesday, he said, "I am going to be spending the next 24 hours buried in this casket. Guys, this is real, not fake.  "And the most amazing part is that I am going to go live by night." In a subsequent update, Young C revealed that he had been buried for over 8 hours and was experiencing physical discomfort, including excessive sweating.  ASUU Gives Scholarships To 6 Indigent UI Students

Six students, on Tuesday, benefited from the 2023 Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Indigent Students’ Scholarship Award, presented by the University of Ibadan, UI, branch of the union.


The awards, divided into national and branch categories, were presented at the institution.


The national award of ₦200,000 each was presented to two students by the Ibadan Zonal Coordinator of the union, Professor Oyebamiji Oyegoke.


The branch award of ₦100,000 each was, however, presented to four other students by different members of the union.


Mr Oyegoke, also of ASUU, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso branch, commended the UI branch for its contributions and faithful representation of the union.


According to him, another attestation to the good work done by the UI branch is the presentation of the ASUU indigent students’ scholarship awards.


“If you look at the branches that are in Ibadan zone, UI is giving the highest,” he said.


Earlier, ASUU Chairman, UI branch, Professor Ayo Akinwole, said the presentation of the awards started in 2018 and had continued till date, except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.


Reiterating the union’s commitment to sound and quality tertiary education, Akinwole said the process of selecting beneficiaries was stringent, as indigency and brilliance were considered.


“We want to continue to contribute our quota to sound minds and quality education despite the fact that government is still owing us seven months and 13 days’ salaries.


“Yes, it is tough for us as a union but we are still doing this out of our meagre resources,” Akinwole said.


The beneficiaries of the national award were: Abdulkabir Ilori, a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery, and Mariam Busari, a 200-level student of Microbiology, both from UI.


The branch beneficiaries were: Olanrewaju Osiga, a 400-level student of Aquaculture and Fishery Management and Hope Adesina, a 200-level student of Archaeology.


The other two branch awardees were: Ruth Folorunsho, a 200-level student of Medicine and Surgery and Samuel Ekpo, a 200-level student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.


One of the beneficiaries, Busari, appreciated the union on behalf of her colleagues.


She said that the gesture would go a long way in encouraging students from poor backgrounds to have access to education.

Namtira Bwala has threatened to file a lawsuit against the school authorities if her abusers are not punished within 48 hours.
