  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. TROOPS ENGAGE KIDNAPPERS RESCUE VICTIMS IN TARABA STATE  


Troops of 114 Battalion (Rear) of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army in Jalingo on 29 January 2024 have successfully rescued three individuals who were kidnapped by bandits in Jalingo Taraba State. Acting on intelligence regarding the movement of the bandits with their victims from Ardo-Kola to Yoro, troops deployed in Apawa village of Yoro Local Government Area swiftly mobilized to the area and trailed the armed group.


The troops displaying exceptional skill and determination engaged the criminals with superior firepower. This forced the bandits to abandon their three abducted victims. We are pleased to report that the rescued individuals have been reunited with their families as we continue on the trail of the kidnappers.


This courageous operation highlights the unwavering commitment of the 6 Brigade to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents of Taraba State.  Law-abiding citizens are urged to support this effort by cooperating with the troops by giving them credible informations.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
