 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

A TEEN LOSES BOTH HER LEGS AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A TRAIN. (PHOTO).


 Granite City, Illinois teen loses both legs after being struck by a train.


13-year-old Serenity McMillan was crossing the tracks near the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue on April 5th when tragedy struck.


In an instant, this happy and bubbly Coolidge Junior High cheerleader's life was inexorably changed.


Serenity attempted to cross the tracks but was either unaware of the impending danger or miscalculated the train's speed.


Sadly this young lady was struck by the train. When first responders arrived on scene, Serenity was deemed as having life threatening injuries. 


She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she unfortunately and ultimately lost both of her legs. 


In light of this horrible accident the town of Granite City pulled together in an amazing display of community and has raised nearly $10,000 for the family.


However with such life altering injuries there is no limit to the expenses this family will face and a GoFundMe is still active if anyone wishes to donate.


Mayor Michael Parkinson has publicly commended the actions of the first responders saying , "I'm not sure she'd be here without them". 


This is truly a tragic ordeal for Serenity and her family and they are in our thoughts. Keep fighting Serenity we are now the ones cheering you on! The sky is the limit!
