 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  APC will claim Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, A’Ibom – Akpabio


Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has disclosed why he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Akpabio said he defected to APC to ensure that the ruling party claims all the states in the South South ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Senate President spoke while receiving Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State at his residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong, Akpabio said winning the states would change the developmental trajectory of the South South region for good.

He said: “Under the APC administration, many of us decided there was need for us to change the political basket to enable us to represent our people at the national level and also have a say in what was going on in the country.

“So, when I made that strong movement to the APC, it was to move our people in the South South region to the centre.

“With the current political permutations, going by all available indices, the ruling APC is poised to bring more states into its fold.”

The PDP controls Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States, while the APC controls only Edo State.
