 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results.  SANWO-OLU COMMISSIONS IPARA JUNIOR COLLEGE, MAJIYAGBE BADAGRY


Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to redefining educational excellence with the commissioning of Ipara Junior College, Majiyagbe, Badagry, Lagos.


Speaking at the event held today at the the school premises, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe described the development as a milestone in consonant with the administration’s vision for inclusivity, high-quality learning under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Developmental Agenda.


Sanwo-Olu stated that, through Literacy initiatives, every school in Lagos would have access to modern technology and resources. He explained that it will not only benefit students but also empower the communities with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly challenging world.


Mr. Governor assured of his support, to stand by all schools and ensure that, every child receives the quality deserved to enable him or her to build a brighter future. He stated that Ipara Junior College embodies a legacy of excellence, a beacon of hope and progress symbolizing the State Government's investment in a brighter future.  


He emphasised that “Every child should have access to a secure and conducive learning environment and we are laying the foundation of a more prosperous tomorrow”. Governor Sanwo-Olu charged stakeholders and the Ipara community to take ownership of the new facilities and care for them diligently, ensuring that they remain a place where learning, growth and inspiration thrive in generations to come. 


He particularly commended the efforts of the special committee on rehabilitation of Public schools for their outstanding work in making this vision a reality as well as teachers and community leaders for their support towards the success of education in the State.


The Governor noted that the classrooms and learning facilities represent the State Government’s unwavering dedication to creating an environment where students from all backgrounds can flourish and reach their full potential. He added that the classrooms and learning facilities are designed to serve every child regardless of their socio-economic status or ability.


Sanwo-Olu revealed that the State Government is taking further strides with the commissioning of nine additional schools across Lagos which is a clear demonstration of its commitment to prioritize education. He declared that, since his assumption to office, 4,000 classrooms have been built and renovated, over 1,500 classroom projects completed with an additional nine new schools in underserved areas. 


He noted that the State Government has recruited nearly 10,000 teachers to ensure that every child has access to quality instruction across the State.
