ENUGU POLICE SUSTAIN CLAMPDOWN ON CRIME, ARREST SUSPECTS; RECOVER FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, OTHER EXHIBITS

The Enugu State Police Command has sustained its vigorous clampdown on armed robbery and other violent crimes in the State. This proactive drive recently resulted in the arrest of three suspects, as well as the recovery of firearms, a motorcycle, and other incriminating exhibits in separate operations.

In the early hours of 20th August 2025, police operatives attached to the Command's Agbani Area Command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Okafor Chukwuka (male, aged 28), and recovered a locally made double-barrel gun from him. Preliminary investigations link the suspect to an armed robbery incident that occurred in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East LGA, about two weeks earlier, during which a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint.

Similarly, on 18th August 2025, at about 9:00 a.m., operatives attached to Udenu Police Division arrested two male suspects: Emeka Odo (aged 45) and Ugochukwu Eze (aged 35), at Obollo-Afor, Udenu LGA. During interrogation, Emeka Odo confessed that he and an accomplice at large had, on 7th August 2025, around 8:30 p.m., robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle and subsequently contacted Ugochukwu Eze to purchase the stolen property. The motorcycle, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge, one battle axe, a cutlass, three solar panels, one solar battery, one solar light, and an object suspected to be charm were recovered from them.

The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has reiterated the Command’s unwavering resolve to rid Enugu State of unrepentant criminals. He urges citizens to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information to enhance proactive crime prevention and effective policing.
