 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  IGWE OKPUNO CELEBRATES IRI JI 2025 — A FESTIVAL OF HERITAGE, UNITY & GRATITUDE


The ancient town of Okpuno came alive in a spectacular display of culture and tradition as His Royal Majesty, Engr. S.I. Okafor (Igwe Ogene of Okpuno), hosted the 2025 New Yam Festival (Iri Ji) at the Igwe’s Palace. 


The event was a colorful celebration of harvest, heritage, and harmony, drawing together cabinet members, traditional chiefs, Nze na Ozo, and proud indigenes of Okpuno.


The festival featured vibrant performances from dance troupes, masquerade displays, and jubilant youth showcases — all reflecting the deep cultural roots and communal pride of the people.


Joining in the festivities was the Prince of Okpuno Kingdom and Mayor of Awka-South, Prince Chinedu Okafor (Ozor Ebubechukwuzo Na'Okpuno), whose presence was met with warmth and admiration. Youths rallied around the Mayor, celebrating his strong bond with the people and his unwavering commitment to grassroots leadership. The Awka-South APGA team and Council members stood proudly beside their principal, sharing in the joy of the occasion.


The festival also welcomed a host of distinguished dignitaries, including:  

Igwe Nibo, HRM Eze Ugonwanne Dr M.C Ngene JP KSQ (Ezeike), lgwe Nise HRM Igwe R.N Iloh (ISE NISE), Igwe Umuawulu HRM Igwe Dr. Joel M. Egwuonwu, Deputy Speaker, Hon.
