Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. SINCLAIR REFUSES TO AIR KIMMEL’S SHOW EVEN AS IT RETURNS TO ABC . (PHOTO).

Sinclair refuses to air Kimmel’s show even as it returns to ABC

Sinclair Broadcast Group will continue pre-empting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on its ABC affiliate stations, even as ABC prepares to bring the show back on Tuesday.

In a statement Monday evening, Sinclair said it will replace the program with news programming while discussions with ABC continue over the show’s potential return. The decision comes as Sinclair weighs a possible divestiture of its local broadcast stations, which would require regulatory approval.

It remains unclear whether other major broadcast groups, like Nexstar—which recently announced it would pull the show from its lineup—will follow Sinclair’s lead. Nexstar, the largest local station owner in the U.S., is in the process of acquiring Tegna, the fourth-largest broadcaster, in a $6.2 billion all-cash deal.
