Critical stakeholders in Amorka Community, Ihiala Local Government Area, a border town linking Anambra and Imo states, have called on the Anambra State Government to include their community in the ongoing infrastructural development across the state.
The stakeholders, including the traditional ruler of Amorka, Igwe Kenneth Obiriolemgbe, the President General of Amorka United Union, Hon. Emmanuel Okonkwo, the Chairman of Amorka Project Council, High Chief Chidiebere Igbokwupute, the Chairman of the 2026 Amorka Day celebration, Chief Victor Nwaizuchukwu-Ezemba, Chief Oliver Obiagazie, among others, who expressed their concerns over the lack of government presence during the 2026 Amorka Day celebration tagged “United for Development”
The event was held at Community Primary School, Amorka, listed numerous projects undertaken solely by the community and noted that Amorka, as a border town, has great significance to Anambra State and the country at large, hence the need for strategic infrastructure such as good road networks, effective power supply, support for security apparatus, a well-equipped hospital, among others, especially as the community shares boundaries with four towns in Imo State.
The stakeholders stated that Amorka, being an APGA community, mobilised and voted massively for Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the last governorship election, and therefore expect the governor to reciprocate by giving them a sense of belonging in his second term, while pledging unalloyed support to the government, calling on Ndi Igbo to unite to develop Ala Igbo, and advising youths to shun violence and criminality.
In his address, the President General of Amorka, Hon. Okonkwo, explained that the Amorka Day celebration was aimed at bringing together sons and daughters of the Amorka Ancient Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to celebrate their integrity, greatness, cultural values and existence, as well as to pool resources for community development, listed projects embarked upon by his administration, and urged the government to consider the Ojukwu Bunker in Amorka as a tourist site, noting that Amorka is the most peaceful town in Ihiala Local Government Area.
