 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Clash between Revenue Agents and Commercial Motorcycle Riders: Eight Suspects Arrested, Normalcy Returns


On January 24, 2026, at about 1427hrs, intelligence indicated that a commercial motorcyclist, Ayuba Abdullahi, was attacked by revenue collection agents near Wunti Gate, behind Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, for refusing to comply with multiple tax collections. The motorcyclist sustained injuries, prompting his coworkers to start a protest at the union's office at Muda Lawal.


2. A joint Police team comprising A, B and C Divisional Police Headquarters, Operation Restore Peace and Rapid Response Squad swiftly responded, addressed the crowd, and dispersed them. Four suspects directly involved in the unrest were arrested:

1. Naziru Yakubu, Railway

2. Tanimu Shuaibu, Jahun

3. Danjuma Abdul, Miri

4. Muktar Sale, Kobi


3. Four additional suspects were arrested for damaging the VIO's office at Gombe road and BAROTA's building. The victim, Ayuba Abdullahi, is receiving treatment and expected to be discharged soon.


4. The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, psc (+), mni commends the operatives involved and appreciates the Bauchi State Joint Motorcycle & Tricyle Riders' association and public for their support. The situation is under control; citizens are advised to resume normal activities.
