 ABUJA EARTH TREMOR: MINISTER DELE ALAKE CALLS FOR CALM, DIRECTS AGENCY TO REPORT UPDATES The minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake has directed the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency to provide hourly updates of the seismic developments around Abuja to him for regular review and possible escalation to other relevant agencies, Urging residents of the Federal Capital to go about their normal routine without anxiety. In a statement by the Special Assistant on Media, Lara Owoeye-Wise, the minister assures that proactive measures have been deployed to ensure the safety of residents and property. The minor earth tremor was noticed on Tuesday, August 4th at 11am in the Federal Capital Territory by the Nigerian Geological survey Agency.

CAN Disowns Letter Written On Governorship Election In Kaduna The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, has refuted what it called “a fake letter, circulating on social media and other platforms in the name of CAN for Christians to vote for a particular political party in the governorship election in the state. CAN noted that the address, signature, letterhead, content, mode and pattern of writing is not written by CAN, saying that it is meant to tarnish the image of the body of Christ in the state. The aim of the fake letter, according to Rev. John Joseph Hayab, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said, “Why? PRESIDENT BUHARI COMMISERATES WITH VICTIMS OF LAGOS AUTO SPARE PARTS MARKET   President Muhammadu Buhari has learned with deep sadness the death of a 65-year-old security guard, the loss of personal property and means of livelihood of some hardworking Nigerians at the Akere Spare Parts market in the Apapa Ajegunle area of Lagos State.   The President's deepest sympathies are with the traders and their families, who bear the brunt of this unfortunate incident and are at crossroads of what to do after this temporary setback.   The President is equally concerned that a similar fire incident occurred at the popular Balogun market a few weeks ago, calling on relevant authorities to take precautions to stem the tide.   While the full extent and cause of the damage is being assessed, President Buhari commends the Lagos State Fire Service for responding to the incident, salvaging a nearby filling station with a 33,000 litres PMS tanker, amongst other adjoining buildings. ...

Court Adjourns Ex-Air Chief, Amosu, Others’ Alleged N21bn Fraud Trial Till June 7 Justice C.J. Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, adjourned till June 7, 2023 further hearing in the alleged N21bn fraud involving a former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, and two others. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  on Tuesday,  November 13, 2018, re-arraigned Amosu  alongside  Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola  Adigun, a former Chief of Account and Budgeting, and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni, a former Director of Finance and Budgeting on an amended  13-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N21bn. The defendants are being prosecuted for alleged conspiracy  and  conversion  of the funds belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to the their personal use.  

COURT GRANTS INEC’S REQUEST TO RECONFIGURE BVAS MACHINES.(PHOTO).

 Court Grants INEC’s Request To Reconfigure BVAS Machines 8, 2023 The Court of Appeal has granted INEC permission to reconfigure BVAS. The Court of Appeal granted INEC’s request because the electoral body said all data in BVAS machines would be transferred to a back end server before they are reconfigured and will not be tampered with. The Applicants have also been granted permission to inspect BVAS. The court also ordered INEC to allow the Applicants to inspect and carry out digital forensic examination of all the electoral materials used in the conduct of the elections, as well as to avail them the Certified True Copy, of result of the physical inspection of the BVAS. The INEC deposed in their affidavit that the accreditation data will not be tampered with.

He is shocked by the incident.  Mr. Governor, on behalf of the government, genuinely shares their grief. He has ordered a probe into the fire, which emergency workers have put out.  Besides, Mr Governor implores Lagosians to desist from attributing the unfortunate incident to any political party or its agents.
