NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT. Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination. A reinforcement team from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision. This annoucement was contained in a statement by DSP Celestina Kalu in Asaba today saturday that ''Police patrol team attached to Quick Response Squad,Warri intercepted a Ford Transit van with Reg.No {Lagos}EPE 790 XH,on June 25.The vehicle was loaded with fairy used Mikanosp 20 generator and Denyo Daw-18083.OKVA welding machine.The vehicle was being escorted by one Ochoche Mathew 'm' who was fully dressed in police uniform with F/NO.255038 and Cpl rank.However,preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect,who previously served with 20 PMF Lagos,have since been demolished.Our investigation revealed that Ochoche was demobilized from the force on July 18,2011.Mathew is no longer in the police service''.The statement added that the suspect was arrested for impersonation and is undergoing investigation and that the vehicle and the exhibits he was escorting had been impounded.One more photo below.
