 Drones hit east Congo's biggest city, killing French aid worker, rebels and UN say Drone strikes hit Goma in east Congo ​on Wednesday, killing at least three people including a French aid worker, the ‌first such attack in the city since AFC/M23 rebels seized it last year, according to the group and the U.N. The AFC/M23 blamed the attack on the Congolese army, saying in a post on X that Kinshasa ​had launched drones against a densely populated urban area in the lakeside city. A senior official for U.N. children's agency UNICEF told Reuters ​that one of its employees, a French national, was killed. French President Emmanuel Macron and Hadja Lahbib, ​European Commissioner for equality, preparedness and crisis management, condemned the attack in posts on X, calling for respect for international humanitarian law and saying aid workers must never be targeted. AFCON: PDP Hails Super Eagles, Charges Team to Lift Trophy
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) celebrates the Super Eagles for the team’s performance in the on-going Africa Cup of Nation, urging the players to focus on lifting the trophy at the end of the tournament.
The party says it is highly proud of our national team for defeating the defending champion, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon; a pointer to the triumph of the Super Eagles at the tournament.
The PDP notes that in defeating Cameroon, the Super Eagles, once again demonstrated the resilient spirit, courage and team work for which our nation and her people are known all over the world.
That victory has also shown that, as a nation, we can always surmount our challenges when we work together.
The party therefore charges the Super Eagles not to relent but to go in the same spirit and defeat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the Quarter Finals on Wednesday.
The PDP urges Nigerians to continue in their support and prayers for the team to win the trophy and bring glory to our dear nation.
