 NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines. To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.² According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations. EFCC Arraigns Female Banker for N452m Scam in Onitsha

The Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC, today March 16, 2022, arraigned one Judith Nneka Nwagwu, a staff of the United Bank for Africa, before Justice D.A Onyefulu of the Anambra State High Court sitting in Onitsha on a seven count charge bordering on forgery and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N452,047,000.

Judith is alleged to have fraudulently obtained N192,000,000 (One Hundred and Ninety Million Naira) from a complainant whom she was his account officer, on the pretext that the bank had $400,000 for sale at the rate of N480 per Dollar. He employers also petitioned the Commission alleging that the defendant forged two fixed deposit certificates and fraudulently obtained the total sum of N260,047.000 ( Two Hundred and Sixty Million, Forty-Seven Thousand naira)Million from a customer under the guise of fixing the money for him.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
