 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. COMMANDANT EWEKA OKORO TASKS
REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJORS ON INTERAGENCY COOPERATION MUTUAL RESPECT DISCIPLINE AND PROFESSIONALISM.


Following the invitation of the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Edenabu Douglas Okoro, msc, acma, cna, as a guest lecturer, at the 4-day Convention of the Regimental Seargeant Majors(RSMs), held in 81 Divsion, Nigerian Army(NA), today, Tuesday, 10th May, 2022, at the Nebo Hall, the Commandant tasked the RSMs, on interagency cooperation, mutual respect, discipline and professionalism.

Commandant Eweka Okoro, was however, ably represented at this year's first RSMs' convention 2022, by Chief Superintendent of Corps(CSC) Abdulazeez Adewumi Bakare(Resource Person). He was also joined at the colourful and mind blowing event, by the Deputy Superintendent of Corps(DSC) Adeyinka Mutiu(Discussant) and the Assistant Superintendent of Corps I(ASCI) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, the Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, Lagos State Command.  

The Nigerian Army has also said, "the theme of the event, “Capacity Building for RSMs in the Nigerian Army for Enhanced Regimentation”
was  organized to enhance  the capacity of the RSMs as custodians of discipline and regimentation in the NA."

The lecture was delivered by CSC Abdulazeez Bakare(Unit Commander, Armed Squad, Lagos Command), on behalf of the Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant Eweka Okoro, today at the RSMs' convention titled, "Interagency Cooperation amongst the Lower Ranks : Perspectives of the NSCDC."  He posited in his paper amongst other things saying, "collective efforts from all Security Agencies were needed to achieve successful security environments in our today's world."  

The lecture which was summed up by Major General Olusegun Adesina, Director Personnel services, Army Headquarters, Abuja, who represented the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, also featured interventionist contributions from two Discussants, Brigadier General Mohammed Abubakar,  DSC Adeyinka Mutiu and  Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Bello(Moderator), amidst other senior officers and  participants at the events.

Finally, Commandant Eweka Okoro also seized the occasion to congratulate the NA, especially, the General  Officer Commanding(GOC), 81 Division, NA, Major General Umar Musa, while he also wished the participants a successful convention.
