I am incredibly sad to report that modern day warrior and martyr, Alexei Navalny has passed away in a western Siberian prison. Navalny was just 47 years old. He leaves behind his beloved wife, daughter and son.
Navalny was one of the bravest men I've had the pleasure to report about. I am admittedly crushed by the news of his death.
Navalny survived being poisoned by the Russian government with a nerve agent the world had NEVER seen before. The new lethal drug was related to Novichok. This lethal drug was found all over his hotel room and it is believed he was hit a second time with the poisoning at the airport in tea.
This is incredible, Navalny called a Russian official and pretended to be another Russian official. He used a caller ID spoof to do this. Navalny literally was able to make a Russian official admit that they put poison in his underwear and clothing but it did not permeate his skin quickly enough. After hearing this, Navalny did not give up who he was on the phone. He was an incredibly brilliant and level-headed man. He simply recorded the call and exposed the official.
Even with this concrete proof, the Russian government still said no crime had been committed.
Navalny should have died after this poisoning in 2020. However, Alexei Navalny was one of the strongest, brightest, and bravest men to walk this Earth in current times. He survived.... shockingly. He was in the hospital for over a month. He was sent to a German hospital where he would be safe. But wait... there's more.
Instead of staying in Germany, where he would have been safe in exile, he returned to Russia to serve a 19-year sentence on purely fake, fabricated charges. Navalny was an opposition leader that was sick of seeing the atrocities happening in his homeland that he so dearly loved. He never gave up hope that one day his homeland would heal and become a place of love and equality.
Alexei Navalny, a former attorney, even attempted to run for president against Vladimir Putin because he was sick of seeing the corruption. He repeatedly put himself in Putin's cross hairs and unfortunately it caught up with him, or at least that is the most likely assumption.
Alexei immediately started telling people he was being mistreated in the prison. He was vocal. He was unafraid to speak up on the atrocities being done to him and others. Because of his bravery, he was moved to a remote penal colony in Western Siberia. According to officials, he was walking in the Arctic and began to feel unwell. Allegedly, he immediately collapsed and died. The penal colony claims they called an ambulance and tried life-saving measures for 90 minutes but to no avail.
I understand in America most people do not know about Alexei. Most people only remember him as the guy who was poisoned and survived. He was so much more, to so many people.
In a world of heartless people, Navalny tried to bring PURE HEART to the entire world. He did this under the constant threat of execution and poisonings. Navalny could have stayed in Germany where he would have been safe for the rest of his life but he wanted to do the right thing and serve his prison sentence although everyone knew he was being charged with fake charges. He wanted to speak up on the prison system and how corrupt it is. He wanted to follow the law so someday he could be a leader in the Russian government and turn things around for the Russian everyday people.
To say Alexei Navalny was a selfless person is a complete and total understatement. Alexei was a martyr and he should never be forgotten. My thoughts go out to Alexei's staff, family, large following and with the Russian people who found such great hope in listening to his speeches before he was grabbed by police and dragged off stage almost every single time.
