 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. A MAN WAS ARRESTED AFTER A PRINCIPAL DISCOVERS OBVIOUS SIGNS OF CHILD ABUSE ON A 6-YEAR--OLD STUDENT. (PHOTO).

 Centralia man arrested after Schiller School principal discovers obvious signs of child abuse on 6-year-old student. The principal called the police immediately.


36-year-old Lawrence Simms Jr. of Centralia, Illinois was arrested after school officials observed his 6-year-old son having marks all over his body. Officials noted serious marks on his arms and back. The boy told authorities that his father struck him with a belt after he accidentally dropped some food while at home.


Mr. Simms is currently being held at the Marion County jail, he has a court appearance today and we will update. 


The six-year-old child is now in the care of DCFS after being treated at St. Mary's hospital.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
