AFCON 2025 qualifier: Eguavoen criticizes Super Eagles star after draw with Rwanda

Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen, has criticized goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, for wasting time in their draw with Rwanda on Tuesday.

Nwabali started the 3-0 win over Benin Republic last weekend and was also selected against the Amavubis.

Although he kept two clean sheets in the two 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Eguavoen was not happy with his behaviour in Kigali.

The Chippa United goalkeeper fell to the ground twice in the closing minutes against Rwanda.

“I don’t encourage such, it’s something we have to talk about, and we all know he’s one of the best goalkeepers in Africa right now. Some officials can get irritated as well and then start to add more minutes.

“It’s not a game plan. I told you before we came here to get three points so delaying such balls is not the best. It’s an in-house talk, we will discuss, going forward such things will not happen,” Eguavoen said as quoted by ANS.
