 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORTS: LSSC, GLOBAL AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCE COMMEMORATIVE EVENTS As part of the activities marking the 2025 International Day of Sports for Development and Peace, the Lagos State Sports Commission (ISSC) in collaboration with Global Ambassadors Initiative has announced series of events commemorating the celebration. At a media briefing held on Friday at the Conference Room of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Director-General of LSSC, Lekan Fatodu discussed extensively on the significance of sports in propagating youth empowerment, social cohesion and bridging the gaps in segregating some members of the society. The LSSC boss stated that the IDSDP is in harmony with the Commission mandate of encouraging mass participation in sports, providing enabling environment for youth to exhibit their hidden talent irrespective of their social status and background. JOHESU declares seven-day strike


Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals have declared a seven-day warning strike, commencing from midnight on Friday (today).


Addressing journalists in Abuja, the national chairman of the Union, Kabiru Minijibir, listed some of its demands to include the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, payment of a twenty-five per cent review of its arrears from June to December 2023, upward review of retirement age for health workers, tax waiver on healthcare workers allowances, and the immediate payment of COVID-19 inducement hazard allowance among other demands.


The latest strike comes after a fifteen-day notice of industrial action issued to the Federal Government.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
