 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.  Obaseki dissolves cabinet, five days to end of tenure


The outgoing Governor of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, dissolved his cabinet ahead of the November 12, 2024 swearing-in of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the new governor of the state.


He dissolved the Exco, shortly after a valedictory session held at the Government House, Benin City.


The motion for the dissolution of the State Executive Council for 2020-2024 was moved by the Deputy Governor, Godwins Omobayo and was seconded by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Osilama Okuofu.


At the valedictory session, the governor commended members of the State Executive Council for helping him in driving his government’s vision of making Edo great again, delivering on all promises made to the people.


He also commended the people of the state for supporting, praying and collaborating with his administration, which led to the successes and achievements recorded by his government across various sectors of the state over the last eight years.


The executives and members of cabinet, who took turns to eulogise the governor, however, acknowledged his many achievements in education, economy, agriculture, power, infrastructure, among others.


The executive members also commended the governor for the opportunity given to them to serve the people of the state in their various capacities.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
