In a heartfelt tribute, the Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has renamed its administration building after the late Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, a renowned champion of democracy and electoral reform. This gesture recognizes his profound contributions to Nigeria's democracy and development of the council. The renaming ceremony, held at the local government headquarters in Ajalli, drew attendees from various sectors, including government officials, educators, community leaders, and well-wishers. Retired Captain Casmir Nwafor, chairman of the council, praised Prof. Nwosu's dedication to education and public service, highlighting his pivotal role in the historic June 12, 1993 elections.  SANWO-OLU APPROVES APPOINTMENT OF NEW PERMANENT SECRETARIES 


Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of three new Permanent Secretaries in the State Public Service. 


The new appointees are Mr. Abdul Rafiu Omowole Fashola, Director, Administration & Human Resources and Secretary, Staff Housing & Loans Board; Mrs. Kaphayah Olayemi Sarumi, Director, State Counsel, Lagos State Waterways Authority, and Mr. Abdul-Rasheed Abiola Muri-Okunola, Director, Administration & Human Resources and General Manager, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA).


The Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro expressed confidence in the capabilities and competencies of the new appointees, just as he affirmed recognition of their diligence, commitment, intellectual capacity, and dedication to effective service delivery.


While wishing them a most rewarding and impactful tenure of Office, the Head of Service stated that the appointments shall be with effect from 31st of December, 2024, He also added that their deployment will be announced in due course.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
