High stakes in Morocco showdown as Nigerian billionaire puts $500,000 on the line. Nigerian billionaire Abdul Samad Rabiu has pledged significant cash bonuses to motivate the Super Eagles ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash against host nation Morocco. Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, announced a $500,000 reward for a victory, with an additional $50,000 promised for every goal scored in the match. The pledge was disclosed in a message posted on X following Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria in Marrakech, a win that secured the Super Eagles a place in the last four of the tournament. Rabiu further revealed that he would reward the team with $1 million if Nigeria goes on to win the AFCON title, alongside a bonus of $100,000 for each goal scored in the final. Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, will take on Morocco on Wednesday, January 14, as the tournament enters its semi-final stage.

Wednesday season 2 hits 50 million views in first 5 days on Netflix

“Wednesday” is off to a strong start in its sophomore season, with the debut of Season 2 attracting 50 million views in just five days on Netflix. The first four episodes, released on Wednesday, Aug. 6, reached this total by Sunday, Aug. 10, making it the second-highest single-week viewership for any English-language Netflix TV show, behind only Season 1 of “Wednesday.” The new season also set a record for being No. 1 in the most countries (91) during its first week.

Although Season 2’s initial numbers trail Season 1, direct comparisons are complicated. Season 1 was released in full, while Season 2 debuted only its first four episodes, and Netflix has updated how it measures viewership. When calculated by runtime, Season 2’s 201.6 million hours watched translates to 50 million views. The Jenna Ortega-led series remains Netflix’s most popular English-language show with 252.1 million views overall, and Season 2’s debut positions it to potentially enter the platform’s top 10. During the week of Aug. 4, Season 2 was the most-watched TV show, while Season 1 returned to the top 10 in second place with 8.6 million views. Other popular shows included “Untamed” with 7.2 million views and “Hunting Wives” at 4.7 million. On the film side, “My Oxford Year” led with 27.2 million views, followed by “KPop Demon Hunters” at 25.9 million and “Happy Gilmore 2” with 14.7 million.
