Public affairs commentator, Emenu Raphael Onyeka, has expressed deep concern over the growing trend of vote selling in parts of Igbo land. This came in handy as the nov 8 Governorship election draws near, According to him, the Igbo people are traditionally known for their independent mindset and strong political will, not for selling their votes; especially for as little as ₦1,000.
He described the development as a “terrible omen” that must be urgently addressed to safeguard the integrity and dignity of the Igbo people. Onyeka called for reorientation and political enlightenment across communities, emphasizing that the true Igbo spirit values conscience and conviction over material inducement.
