Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND PUBLISHES OFFICIAL CONTACT NUMBERS OF AREA COMMANDERS, DPOS AND TACTICAL COMMANDERS


In line with its strategic drive to deepen transparency, enhance accountability and strengthen public confidence in policing, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has approved the public release of the official contact phone numbers of all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Tactical Commanders across the State.


The directive is intended to improve accessibility to police leadership at all operational levels and to facilitate prompt reporting of crimes, effective intelligence sharing and swift response to security concerns. It further underscores the Command’s commitment to citizen-centred policing and robust community partnership in the maintenance of law and order. The Command cautions that abuse of these lines, including prank calls or the dissemination of false information, as members of the public are enjoined to make responsible and constructive use of the published contact numbers strictly for security-related matters.


The Delta State Police Command reiterates its resolve to protect lives and property and to sustain a secure and peaceful environment through proactive engagement, professionalism and cooperation with the public.
