Bandits Abduct Two Daughters Of Widow In Kaduna Community

Suspected bandits have attacked Maraban Rido community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting two daughters of a widow.

The victims were identified as Deborah Edward, a corps member who completed her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in December 2025, and her younger sister, Rachael Edward.

The attackers reportedly stormed the family’s residence late on Monday night and forcefully took the two sisters away.

The incident occurred barely two weeks after the mass abduction of worshippers from ECWA and Cherubim and Seraphim churches in Kurmin Wali community.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the victims’ mother, Mrs. Alice Edward, said the bandits initially abducted her daughters alongside a visitor, Priscilla, who had come to spend the night.

According to Mrs. Edward, the attackers later released Priscilla after her daughters pleaded with them, explaining that their mother was their only surviving parent.

She added that while the visitor was freed, the bandits took the two sisters to an unknown destination.

Priscilla, who is currently receiving treatment in a hospital, recounted that she was severely beaten before being released.

She said the attackers continued to assault her with their guns until she lost consciousness, leading them to believe she was dead.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls.
