Meryl Streep had 'beef' with Goldie Hawn on 'Death Becomes Her' set

Meryl Streep recently reflected on her long friendship with Goldie Hawn, admitting that their time working together on the 1992 film Death Becomes Her wasn’t always smooth.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Streep revealed her biggest frustration was Hawn’s tendency to arrive late to set, often driving herself in a red convertible.

While Streep prided herself on punctuality, she recalled being annoyed by Hawn’s carefree entrances, though she acknowledged that everyone else found her co-star “adorable.”

Despite those minor clashes, Streep emphasized that she and Hawn shared a strong bond during and after filming.

The dark comedy, which explored themes of aging and mortality, saw the two actresses play rivals entangled in a love triangle with Bruce Willis’s character.

Over the years, Streep said they’ve laughed about the movie’s satirical take on Hollywood vanity, joking that it felt like a “documentary on Beverly Hills.” Their friendship endured, with Streep describing Hawn as one of her “buddies.”

Streep’s lighthearted comments about her past “beef” with Hawn came shortly after another playful exchange involving NFL star Travis Kelce.

On his New Heights podcast, Kelce responded to a clip of Streep joking that she’d like to see him try walking in stilettos on Milan’s cobblestones.

Rather than taking offense, Kelce praised Streep as a “powerful woman” and quipped that she had no idea how skilled he was at walking in heels.

The moment highlighted Streep’s wit and her ability to poke fun while maintaining warm relationships across different worlds of entertainment and sports.
