Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. Toyin Abraham has reacted after comedian Bovi Ugboma recreated her viral awkward encounter with Funke Akindele during the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.


While co-hosting the ceremony alongside Nomzamo Mbatha, Bovi performed a comedy skit inspired by the trending moment from the premiere of The Return of Arinze.


In the performance, Nomzamo played the role of Funke Akindele, while Bovi acted as Toyin Abraham during the humorous reenactment.


The joke entertained many guests at the event, including Toyin Abraham herself, who was later seen laughing and chatting with Bovi in a viral video.


According to Toyin, she already expected the comedian to turn the situation into a joke.


The original incident happened during the premiere of a movie by Iyabo Ojo, where Funke Akindele appeared to ignore Toyin Abraham’s greeting while seated alongside Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe.


The moment quickly went viral online, with many social media users describing it as awkward and embarrassing.


Following the incident, Toyin Abraham openly expressed her disappointment and stated that she would no longer greet Funke Akindele, adding that she had unfollowed her on social media.
