Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  No 50/50: Singer Magixx Insists Men Must Pay All Bills, Even If She Asked You Out

Nigerian singer and songwriter Magixx has sparked a lively debate online after sharing his strong stance on financial responsibilities within romantic relationships. The talented artist made it clear that he does not subscribe to the modern concept of splitting bills, asserting that men should carry the entire financial load.

The Case Against 50/50: Why Men Must Pay, According to Magixx

Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, the "Love Don't Cost A Dime" crooner explained that the traditional expectation of men handling bills should remain intact, regardless of how the courtship began. According to Magixx, even if a woman initiates the relationship or asks a man out on a date, the financial responsibility still rests solely on the man's shoulders.

"I don’t believe in 50/50. I believe a man should pay the bills even if it is the woman who asked him out," the singer stated during the interview.

The Wealth Factor: A Candid Admission

While Magixx holds firm to his traditional views on courtship, he also offered a transparent caveat. The rising star admitted that his perspective is heavily influenced by his current financial success, noting that his stance on the "50/50 relationship" debate might have been entirely different if he weren't in a privileged position.

He honestly confessed that he isn't certain if his views would remain the same if he were still struggling financially, highlighting the deep connection between financial stability and dating expectations in modern society.

A Broader Cultural Debate

Magixx's comments tap into an ongoing, highly polarizing discussion across Nigeria and the wider global community regarding gender roles and modern dating dynamics. While some social media users praised his chivalrous attitude, others argued that his expectations might not be realistic or fair for the average man who is still building his career. Regardless of where you stand, Magixx's bold take has once again put relationship finance under the spotlight.
