I lost movie role for refusing director’s kiss – Omoni Oboli  Actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has disclosed how she lost a movie role due to her refusal to kiss a film director. In an interview on AY Makun’s Glasshouse show, Omoni revered the incident, which occurred when she returned to Nigeria after taking a break to raise her children. She revealed that a director proposed she give him a lip-to-lip kiss in exchange for the role.  Despite being comfortable with scripted kissing scenes, Omoni said she turned down the offer, making it clear she wouldn’t kiss him unless it was part of the script.  Why I congratulated Gen. Gowon on his 90th birthday – Peter Obi My congratulations to Nigeria’s former military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, on his 90th birthday, celebrated by a diverse group of Nigerians, has evoked mixed reactions. Some individuals have expressed their sentiments both publicly and privately, and I share in some of their concerns. However, as a leader committed to steering our country away from its past shortcomings, including the issues that led to our tragic civil war, I felt it was essential to demonstrate to the world that true heroism lies in forgiving our adversaries and moving forward. Undoubtedly, the darkest chapter in our 64-year journey as a nation was the 30-month civil war from 1967 to 1970. I believe that God, whose ways are often beyond our understanding, has a purpose for keeping General Gowon—the Chief Prosecutor of that war—alive to witness this milestone. Similarly, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who played a crucial role in the war’s resolu...

Current insecurity worse than during my govt – Obasanjo Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the country needs to do something urgently on insecurity which, he said, has taken over some parts of the nation. He said insecurity in Nigeria today is worse compared to his time in office when he prioritised the security of lives and property across the country. Speaking at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman-Adamu, Obasanjo stressed the importance of community policing in addressing the rising insecurity in the country. He said the current state of insecurity in Nigeria needed immediate action to address the situation. “The best form ...
