 Israel and Lebanon agree to extend US-brokered ceasefire by 45 days, State Department says Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend a U.S.-brokered ceasefire by 45 days, according to U.S. officials, in an effort to allow further progress in ongoing negotiations aimed at reducing hostilities along their shared border. A State Department spokesperson said the April 16 cessation of hostilities would be extended by an additional 45 days following what officials described as “highly productive” talks held in Washington on Thursday and Friday. The two sides are expected to resume negotiations on June 2 and June 3. The discussions mark the third round of meetings between Israel and Lebanon since renewed fighting escalated earlier this year, including Israeli airstrikes following missile fire from Hezbollah and subsequent Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon.                        esterday frida,there was a mid drama at the Nnadi Azikiwe International Aiport,Abuja on friday,as the minister of petroleum resources,Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke,ran to catch up with the president elect,Muhammadu Buhari.Both Buhari and the minister yesterday friday morning travelled out of the country to London on the same flight.One source said that both boarded a British Airways flight that left the airport at about 4:30am on its way to Heathrow Airport,London.Sources who witnessed the drama said the petroleum minister left behind her aides while running to catch up with Bhari.''Bhari was at the frount and had already passed the screening team.And immediate; Diezani came down,it was as if they told her that President elect was already inside the aircraft,so she started running.She even left her people behind so that she could board the flights along with the president elect''.According to another source,the president elect only greeted Alison Madueke during the boarding process.The Minster allegedly tried many times to stir a conversation with Buhari,but Buhari shunned her.In a statement published by Buhari's media team Malam Garba Shehu on friday Abuja states that ''General  Muhammadu Buhari will use the opportunity of the visit to take a much deserved vest ahead of his inauguration on May 29''.
