Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. According to the Governor of Kiambu,William Kabogo,said today friday that six people died of alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the hospital.The six people were among the 18 people admitted to different hospitals in the country siince wednesday.''It is unfortunate that we have lost the six,but efforts are being made to save those admitted in 14 level four five hospital.My government would issue licenses only to brewers cleared by Kenya Bureau of standardsThe fight continues and there is no room for illicit brews in Kiambu.The symptoms of withdrawal includes shaking,sweating,delusions,confusion,aggressiveness,fever,fits and convulsions.''.Earlier,Kiambu County Director for clinical services Jacob Toro said rehabilitation centres had been set up for alcohol addicts following the crackdown on low priced,high alcohol spirits.More photos below.
