 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. THE NIGERIAN ARMY,JUST ARRESTED THE MASTERMINDS OF JOS AND ZARIA SUICIDE ATTACKS.

Sani Usman, acting Director of Army Public Relations                 Today wednesday,the Nigerian Army confirmed the arrest of the mastermind of two recent bomb and gun attacks in Jos and Zaria towns of Plateau and Kaduna states,respectively.The confirmation is contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations,Col.Sani Usman,and made available to NAN in Abuja.It said the suspect,in company of two other persons were arrested at a checkpoint in Dadin Kowa town of Gombe state while attempting to flee.The statement said their arrest was made possible following a security cordon of the general areas especially along the volatile areas on the North Eastern axis.It said the security cordon which led to the arrest of the suspects was conducted by troops of 3 Division,Special Task Force and the Department of state services.''The terrorist kingpin and his colleagues who disguised in a trailer while trying to evade checks were fished out by troops of Nigerian Army.The arrested terrorists are currently being processed for further action and would soon face the full wrath of the law''.The statement urged the general public to be more vigilant,security conscious and report any suspicious persons,movements and facilities to security agencies.
