LASG PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO NEW ONIȘẸ OF ISE KINGDOM The Lagos State Government has presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, as His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, the Onise of Ise Kingdom in Lekki Local Government Area. The presentation was performed on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, with the approval of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council, following the demise of the late Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan, Onise of Ise Kingdom. According to a local media report,the two South African men who beat and stabbed a Mozambican man to death during a wave xenophobic violence in April last year were sentenced to 17 and 10 years in prison in monday.Mthinta Bhengu and Sifundo Mzimela,who were caught on camera attacking Mozambican national Emmanuel Sithole in a township in the economic hub of Johannesburg,were found guilty of murder in November.Bhengu,who has a previous conviction for violent crime,received the harsher sentence,702 Talk Radio reported.Magistrate Van der Schyff said Bhengu continued to attack the Mozambican vendor even while the victim was begging for mercy,the radio said.Van der Schyff said ''It is not acceptable that a person should be killed in this manner''.The wave of anti-immigrant attacks first surfaced in the eastern Kwaulu Natal Province in April before flaring up in Johannesburg.More photos below.
