TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. According to sources,heat waves in India claimed more than 300 lives this month of April,and Indian officials have forbidden day time cooking in some areas to prevent fires that have killed nearly 80 others.The eastern state of Bihar banned cooking between 9 am and 6 pm,after accidental fires exacerbated by dry,hot and windy weather swept through shanty-towns and thatched-roof houses and killed 79 people.People are also barred from burning spent crops or holding fire ,rituals as part of Hindu religious practice.Disaster management official Vyas,who goes by one name,saif Friday ythat anyone who violates the orders could face up to a year in jail.Sources said further that more than 300 people have died of heat related illness this month of April 2016,as more than 330 million struggle with severe drought.Mor photos below.
