 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.   Image result for soldiers molested a physically challenged person for wearing a camouflage              The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a video clip in which two soldiers were seen maltreating a physically challenged person for allegedly wearing a camouflage shirt.We wish to inform the public that the incident took place on tuesday 7th February 2017,at Onitsha,Anambra State.
In line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts especially in relation to violation of human rights,we wish to further state that the soldiers involved have since been identified and apprehended.
They have also been charged for assault by their Commanding Officer.
Similarly,troops have been warned to desist from such acts that infringe on human rights and cast serious aspersions on the good image of the Nigerian Army.
