UPDATE OF NCI RECOMMENDING THE SETTING UP OF A COUNCIL TO REGULATE THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN NIGERIA.{READ}.

Image result for social media               A report circulating in the New and Traditional Media says the National Council on Information (NCI) has recommended the ''setting up of a Council to regulate the use of social media in Nigeria''.
This is attracting much bashing from the Social Media.
But here are the facts:
1. The National Council on Information (NCI) is not a Federal Government body, but a body that comprises all the 36 states of the Federation, the FCT and the FG
2. What the NCI has suggested, that is the setting up of a Council to regulate the use of social media in Nigeria, is only a RECOMMENDATION, and nothing else.
3. The Federal Government has NOT accepted the recommendation contained in the NCI Communique, hence there is no cause for alarm or reason to panic. It is WRONG, as some have already done, to conclude that a mere recommendation of a Council is now the policy of the FG.
4. People should always seek to understand issues before commenting on them. Having a phone/laptop and cheap data is no licence for irresponsible posturing and name calling.
