 Nigerian Association for Family Development releases communique on 18 biennial conference held in Awka By Chris Chikelue The Nigerian Association For Family Development (NAFAD) has made public the communique made at the 18th Biennial conference  themed: 'Marriage as a Vocation- Flourishing Despite Modern Challenges'. The communique which was issued on March 30, 2025 at the Bishop AK Obiefuna  Retreat and Pastoral Centre, Okpunor, Awka, Anambra State was signed by NAFAD National President, Mr. Uche Okpala and its National Secretary,  Mrs Tayo Akinyede. It was a gathering that brought together couples, relationship experts, and singles to explore practical ways to strengthen marriages and address contemporary relationship challenges. SEME COMMAND GENERATED 546,837,124.64FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY, 2018.

     The Seme Command of the Nigerian Customs Service generated the sum of Five Hundred and Forty-Six Million, Eight Hundred and Thirty-Seven Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty-Four Naira, Sixty-Four Kobo (546,837,124.64) as revenue in January being the first month of 2018. The revenue generated represented about 81 percent of the revenue target actualized.
The Command made a total of 64 seizures with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of Eighteen million, Three Hundred and Thirty-five Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety-Five Naira (N18, 335, 495.00) for the period under review.Commenting on the revenue generated, the Customs Area Controller Mohammed Aliyu, A disclosed that the Command have started on a good note. He stated that the service is ready to explore all avenues in order to ensure that the target for the year is not only met but exceeded.The comptroller re-stated that the anti-smuggling drive of the command is well fortified against smugglers. He noted that the clamp-down on smuggling of PMS products through the creeks is a demonstration of the commands readiness to combat smuggling of any kind through the border to the barest minimum. Addressing officers and men, the controller indicated his readiness to reward excellent performance among officers as motivational incentives to ensure strict compliance to our extant laws and the service operational golden rules while discharging their responsibilities.The controller further warned officers and men of the command not to compromise the standard set by the service but should be committed to the implementation of government fiscal policies especially now that their services are most needed.
The Customs Area Controller disclosed that the command expect a more professional approach in the handling and usage of arms among officers and men of the command. He stated this during the retraining exercise conducted by the Nigeria Army 243 Recce Battalion Badagry, Lagos. He re-stated that the exercise will equip officers with all the necessary knowledge and skills to help them deal with challenges that they may face in the course of discharging their duties.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
