 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.     Ogun State Government, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has felicitated with Muslims on the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to pray for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
He said this in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslim faithful, signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye.
The governor charged them to look beyond the meriment of the period, but focus more on praying for peace and harmony, which according to him, will ensure progress and development of the nation.
"During this festival of feast, we should ensure that we truly imbibe the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim, who, in obedience to God's directive, sacrificed his only son.
"Beyond the sacrifice, we should also not relent in praying for peace, unity and religious tolerance, which are essential to sustaining the glory of our dear nation", the governor added.Wishing Muslims happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the governor prayed that God will accept their supplication and sacrifices.
