 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023.     Ogun State Government, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has felicitated with Muslims on the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to pray for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
He said this in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslim faithful, signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Otunba Adedayo Adeneye.
The governor charged them to look beyond the meriment of the period, but focus more on praying for peace and harmony, which according to him, will ensure progress and development of the nation.
"During this festival of feast, we should ensure that we truly imbibe the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim, who, in obedience to God's directive, sacrificed his only son.
"Beyond the sacrifice, we should also not relent in praying for peace, unity and religious tolerance, which are essential to sustaining the glory of our dear nation", the governor added.Wishing Muslims happy Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the governor prayed that God will accept their supplication and sacrifices.
