S. A: FOUR PEOPLE HAVE DIED AFTER A CAR WAS SWEPT AWAY AT AN OVERFLOWING BRIDGE IN THE MAKOTOPONG RIVER NEAR SEBAYENG.(PHOTO).

 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter.       The Nigerian Army football team, also known as Green Beret football team on Saturday, 8 September 2018 has been ranked a new member of Nigeria National League.
The Green Beret football team qualified for national league competitions in a nationwide league one, division one championship qualify match against Olisa football team of Ogun State on Saturday 8 September 2018, at the Ilorin Township Stadium, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Nigerian Army Green Beret Team qualified for national league competitions when they won Olisa football team of Ogun State with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out score. The trophy of the competition has since been handed over to the Nigerian Army Headquarters ( AHQs ) Abuja.
The General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Okwudili Fidelis Azinta received the team in the Division's new Auditorium, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo- Ibadan when members of the team paid him a courtesy call at Headquarters 2 Division. The General Officer Commanding encouraged the team to continue to be hardworking and win more trophy for the Nigerian Army.More photos below.
