 TROOPS OF OPERATION UDO KA UNCOVER SHALLOW GRAVE, EXHUME REMAINS OF LATE COMMUNITY LEADER IN IMO STATE Troops of 34 Artillery Brigade, operating under Operation UDO KA and through the ongoing Operation EASTERN SANITY II, have achieved another significant breakthrough with the recovery and dignified exhumation of the remains of the late Chief Ibe Anyadu of Aggah Community. Chief Anyadu was allegedly murdered by suspected members of a criminal gang recently apprehended in connection with violent crimes in the region. This development follows recent intelligence-driven operations that led to the arrest of suspects responsible for the killing of a Nigerian Army soldier and the recovery of stolen service weapons. During interrogation, one of the suspects confessed to involvement in the murder of Chief Anyadu and volunteered to lead troops to the burial site.      CWGC honour the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars.
Reflecting on the past 50 years as President, The Duke said:
“It has been, and continues to be, my privilege and honour to serve as President of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
“I commend the vital work of the CWGC, through which the sacrifice of these brave men and women will be remembered for generations to come.”
The Duke of Kent’s personal milestone coincides with the CWGC’s 700th meeting of its board of Commissioners. Over the course of those meetings, ground-breaking decisions were taken by people like Winston Churchill and Rudyard Kipling, which shaped remembrance of the war dead.More photos below.
