 Four people have died after a car was swept away at an overflowing bridge in the Makotopong River near Sebayeng. Police recovered the bodies after a blue Renault Kwid carrying five occupants was pulled into the river during heavy water flow on Sunday morning, 8 March 2026. One passenger escaped from the vehicle and alerted police and emergency services. Police say the car was travelling along the Madiga–Makotopong gravel road when it overturned at the flooded bridge and was dragged into the river. The Provincial Search and Rescue team recovered the first body on Sunday. The victim was identified as Lebapa Petrus Mochitele, 27, from Madiga Village. EMS personnel declared him dead at the scene. Search operations resumed on Monday with the SAPS Water Wing Unit, EMS Search and Rescue, the Fire and Rescue Department, and an EMS helicopter. LASG ANNOUNCES POSTPONEMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICE EXAMINATION.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

     The Lagos State Government, through the State Examinations Board, has announced the indefinite postponement of the Public Service Examination earlier scheduled to hold from Tuesday, 7th April to Tuesday, 14th April, 2020.
According to a statement signed and issued by the Director, Lagos State Examinations Board, Mr. Supo Gbadegesin, the postponement was a sequel to the Head of Service Circulars: CIR/HOS/’20/Vol. 1/037 dated 20th March, 2020 on curtailing the spread of COVID-19 in Alausa Secretariat and other Government Establishments.
Gbadegesin added that information on the suspension was also contained in “CIR/HOS/’20/Vol. 1/038 dated 20th March, 2020 on Postponement of the Year 2020 Promotion Exercise and Suspension of State Programmes occasioned by the need to take precautionary measures against the Pandemic Corona Virus (COVID 19)”.
He reiterated that as soon as the restriction order by Federal and State Governments are lifted and approval is obtained from the appropriate authorities, the new dates would be duly communicated.
