 EFCC Arraigns Two Suspected Fraudsters for Impersonating Kano Oil Mogul The Kano Zonal Directorate of the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, has arraigned the duo of Sulaiman Inuwa Zakiru and Aliyu Ahmed before Honourable Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of the Kano State High Court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretenses.   The defendants allegedly conspired to impersonate Alhaji A.A. Rano, a prominent oil mogul and owner of A.A. Rano Oil and Gas Limited and defrauded their victims  the sum of  N12,000,000 (Twelve Million Naira) for payment for an oil allocation purportedly issued by A.A. Rano Oil and Gas. The principal suspect, Sulaiman Inuwa Zakiru allegedly defrauded the petitioner  by claiming that A. A.  N204million Fraud: Absence of Defence Counsel Stalls Senator Albert Bassey’s Trial


The money laundering trial of Senator Obong Albert Bassey before Justice Agatha A. Okeke of the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was stalled on Thursday October 21, 2021 following the absence of his counsel, Solomon Umoh SAN. Barrister Aniema Etuk who held the brief of the lead defence counsel, informed the court that the learned silk was sick and couldn't make it to court. He further told the court he was ill-prepared to proceed with the matter as he did not have the facts of the case. He offered to withdraw from the matter.

The EFCC is prosecuting Senator Albert Bassey on six counts of Money Laundering, arising from the allegation that he took possession of six vehicles worth N204million, at the instance of one Olajide Omokore, whose companies had contracts with the State Government, at the time.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
