OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Anambra Governor's Wife, Dr (Mrs) Obiano Visits Nteje Rehab Centre, Community Children's Home, Awka



Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the charity organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, has extended the joy of Christmas to Nteje Rehabilitation Centre and Community Children's Home, Awka, in a bid to ensure that those at the two homes also get the sense of the festivity.


The governor's wife, had on arrival at the centres, gone round each of the units to ensure that they are functioning optimally and that the inhabitants are well cared for, and also made suggestions for refurbishment where necessary.


She was accompanied by her children, Dr Gechy and Master Chukwudifu Obiano, who presented Christmas gifts to the homes.


Addressing the people, Dr (Mrs) Obiano said that she was at the homes to do what knows how to do best: always touching the lives of those in need, adding that she finds immense joy in lending a helping hand, especially to the poor.


She urged everyone to always remember to show some love to those at the homes, no matter how little, emphasizing that there is a joy of fulfilment that comes with unconditional charity.


She commended the managers of the homes for their sacrifice to social works.


The Nteje Rehabilitation Centre is a facility that caters for those with mental health challenges, while Community Children's Home, Awka looks after orphaned and abandoned children.


Since its formal establishment in January, 2015, the Nteje Home has rehabilitated a total of one hundred and forty-two persons, with an eighty percent population representation of non-Anambra indigenes. 


The rehabilitated persons were given household materials, foods, cash and equipment to start off any of the vocations they had learned while at the centre.
