 PRESS RELEASE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION: IGP RECEIVES AMB FROM AFRICAN UNION, GETS COMMENDATION FOR NOTABLE FEATS. As NPF Pledges Reinforced Support. In a significant diplomatic engagement, The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM., received a courtesy visit from Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace & Security of the African Union Commission, today April 4th 2025, at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Samuel Victor Makwe, a representative from the Embassy of Nigeria in Addis Ababa, and other African Union (AU) officials. During the visit, Ambassador Adeoye expressed his appreciation for the distinguished service rendered by the Nigeria Police Force, particularly highlighting their exemplary professionalism and competence in peacekeeping operations in Somalia. Alleged Forgery of Medical Report: EFCC Presents First Witness against Fani-Kayode

The EFCC on February 23, 2022 presented its first witness against Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, who is standing trial before Justice O.O. Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos for offences bordering on use of false documents, use of fabricated evidence, procuring execution of documents by false pretence, and fabricating evidence. 

Fani-Kayode who is also being prosecuted by the EFCC for an alleged N4.9billion fraud before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, is facing 12 counts before Justice Abike-Fadipe, brought against him by the EFCC, following his alleged use of forged medical report(s), which he tendered at the Federal High Court to justify his absence in Court.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
