 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. CP ECHENG URGES CITIZENS TO SHUN JUNGLE JUSTICE

_as operatives rescue 3 armed robbery suspects_

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, *CP Echeng Echeng* calls on *Ndi-Anambra* to refrain from engaging in jungle justice. The *CP* made this call today Tuesday 8/3/2022 following an attempt by an angry mob to set three(3) alleged armed robbery suspects on fire. The timely arrival and intervention of some police operatives at the scene saved the suspects from being lynched.

The suspects: *Ifeanyi Nsiegbunam ‘M’ 23years, Chinemelum Nwafor ‘M’ 27years, Nnamdi Nwakwesili ‘M’ 40yrs,* were alleged to have on 05/03/2022 at about 10am, dispossessed a student of *Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University*, Igbariam of her belongings. Incriminating items found and recovered from the suspects include: one locally made single barrel pistol, a white coloured dagger, a big saw, a big hammer, a black and brown coloured lady's bag, an Infinix phone, a black Panasonic phone and three(3) phone chargers.

The *CP* who was full of thanks to the public for the arrest of the three suspects and for their continuous assistance to the Police in the fight against crimes in the State, however, enjoins them to always follow the due process by handing over arrested suspects to the Police. He notes that this would afford the Police opportunity to conduct appropriate investigation and prosecution of suspects and ensure justice.             

Meanwhile, the *CP* assures that the three rescued suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
