 NIGERIAN FILM "MY FATHER’S SHADOW" MAKES HISTORY, SET TO PREMIERE AT Y2025 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL  . . . "This is a proud moment for Lagos and Nigeria" - Sanwo-Olu The Nigerian film industry has scored a major international milestone as "My Father’s Shadow", a powerful drama rooted in the country's political and cultural history, is set to premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival this May. Written by Wale Davies and Directed and co-written by Akinola Davies Jr., "My Father’s Shadow" is a collaborative production between Nigerian producer Funmbi Ogunbanwo of Fatherland Productions and UK-based producer Rachel Dargavel of Element Pictures. The film, shot in Lagos and Ibadan, explores the emotional aftermath of the 1993 presidential election and its impact on a father-son relationship. OPERATION HADIN KAI: PERSONNEL CONFER WITH OPERATION’S MEDAL


The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Major General Waidi Shaibu, on Saturday, 2nd April, 2022 at 212 Battalion Parade Ground Maimalari Cantonment conferred deserving officers and men of 7 Division and Sector 1 OPHK with operation LAFIYA DOLE and TURA TAKAI BANGO Medals.

General Waidi Shaibu who was the Reviewing Officer during the parade stated that, the presentation of medals in the Nigerian Army is an age long tradition of recognizing, appreciating, honoring and documenting the services and effort of our deserving personnel. He further stated that medal presentation is also a way the Nigerian Army shows love and support for its personnel who sacrificed their lives and freedom for their fatherland.

As part of his remarks, Major General Shaibu expressed appreciation to personnel especially those who lost their lives since the beginning of the Counter Insurgency Operations. He pointed out that the Division has been the backbone of the operation since its establishment in 2003 till date. He also used the opportunity to congratulate officers and men that were decorated with the medals stating that “Nigeria and Nigerian Army are profoundly proud of you for sacrificing everything to keep the citizens safe and in peace”.

In addition, the GOC conveyed the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) message of appreciation and also urged troops to give more in the ongoing Ops DESERT SANITY and LAKE SANITY in order to completely decimate the remnants of BHTs/ISWAP marauding within our Area of Responsibility. According to him, successes being recorded are testimony of troops bravery, dedication, courage and discipline. He urged the officers and men not to relent till all assigned tasks are accomplished. Finally, he promised his continuous purposeful leadership required to achieve the mandate.

Highlights of the event was the Inspection of Parade, Decoration of Troops and Group Photograph.

Present during the occasion were the Chief of Staff Headquarters 7 Division Brig Gen SY Yakasai, Commander 7 Division Garrison Brig Gen AGL Haruna, Formation and Unit Commanders as well as Principal Staff Officers of the Division.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
