 Alleged Defilement: Ogun Drops Charges Against School Proprietor, Cites Lack of Evidence …decries social media incitement against the accused, govt The Ogun State Government has decided not to press charges against the proprietor of Perfect Life School, Igode-Remo, Mr. Ashafa Samson Adelaja, over allegations of defilement. According to the state Ministry of Justice, following its findings after a thorough investigation of the allegations against Adelaja, the State Government, on Thursday, informed the Chief Magistrate sitting in the Sagamu Magisterial District that it would not be bringing any charges against him. Accordingly, Mr. Ashafa was unconditionally released from prison custody, according to a statement issued by the ministry. FG TO REPAIR EXPANSION JOINTS ON KARA BRIDGE, LASG ANNOUNCES TRAFFIC DIVERSION


The Federal Ministry of Works will, on Saturday, September 3, 2022, commence repairs of damaged expansion joints along the Berger-OPIC axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Communicating the development in a press statement, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that traffic will be diverted at the Ogun State bound lane of Kara Bridge, stating that three expansion joints along the Expressway would be repaired to prevent accidents and vehicular damage.

Oladeinde gave an assurance that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will collaborate with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) to provide adequate diversion and effective traffic management systems during the repair works.

Advising the general public to drive with caution along the route during the period of repairs, the Commissioner emphasised the need for patience and understanding of motorists, just as he promised that interventions will be put in place to minimise traffic congestion.

“Commuters are encouraged to comply with traffic laws and regulations to prevent gridlock and ensure free flow of traffic while the repair works last. Traffic officers will be stationed at strategic locations along the axis to prevent gridlock”, Oladeinde said.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
