  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. 'CHURCH' WOMEN SPOTTED RELAXING WITH BEER AT DRINKING JOINT IN BENUE



The photo has generated mixed reactions on Facebook, with some criticising the poster and the women for drinking alcohol while wearing 'church uniform'.

A Facebook user identified as Lubem Terkula posted a photo of some women spotted drinking beer at a joint in Benue State.

It was gathered that the women are members of a Christian women's organisation in the state.

"Nobody stop them to drink but at least they should have respect the uniform they are putting on," one Uba Shima wrote. "That uniform is meant for church activities not beer parlour activities," he added.

"It's wrong posting those women here i dont just know what you are turning into. Is it wrong for them to have a relax time at your place,if eventually their husband nor people of same Organization saw this,do you no the damages that will caused thereafter. Don't be doing something like one who doesnt reason,"

Another Facebook user said: "Even those who forbids it still take it, just drink responsibly. Take one or two is okay."

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
