 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity. Oyo State Transport Union Member Electrocuted While Destroying Campaign Billboard Of Accord Party Gov Candidate In Oyo

A middle-aged man whose name has not been revealed has been electrocuted while destroying a campaign billboard of Adebayo Adelabu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Adelabu is the governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State.

It was gathered that the victim, identified as a member of the Park Management System (PMS), had climbed a pole at the Challenge area in Ibadan on Friday without knowing that the billboard was connected to a live wire close to it.

While the victim was fighting for his life, his colleagues fled the scene of the incident before the arrival of police officers.

A video of the incident which has gone viral, showed the victim lying on the ground while passersby watched his lifeless body.
